I took my car to the shop because of the rough idle I was told it was a bad coil so I bought a new one and the problem still there could it be a bad injector Admin's Note:
its a 2002 s.s. with a stock ls1 but I did buy M.S.D. coils for it, big mistake, plus they dont make them anymore so the one I bought was a factory one.

Is there any other performance issues with the vehicle Admin's Note:
Miss fire Admin's Note:
SES light Admin's Note:
Usually rough idle concerns are caused by vacuum leaks. This can be checked with some carb cleaner or brake clean.

(84z28) Thomas is a true blood GM owning, FORD DEALER trained mechanic. So is board member Zack (thenascar). As Thomas asked, with car started and running, do you have a SERVICE ENGINE SOON (SES light) that stays on or was it possibly flashing (SES light) on/off frequently Admin's Note:
If so go down to Autozone, for FREE they will use their OBDii Code Reader (Part Number: CP9580) to confirm specifically which DTC code the PCM is identifying as an area of issue. Immediately write down the DTC code they pull from the PCM. They will also recommend I'm certain a parts list as well. Don't buy anything! Report back here...
As an insurance man NON mechanic I would go this route:
1. Identify/Search online (google: chevy dtc code) the DTC code 2. Determine which system(s) on vehicle relate to this code 3. In your case if specific cylinder identified locate known component(s) for this area 4. Remove and visually inspect each component for wear (Spark Plug, Plug Wire, Coil) 5. Try swapping parts ( with similar location (cylinder # 1 for example) 6. Does issue follow parts swapped Admin's Note:
Then you know 1 of the parts you moved is issue. 7. This can be tedious but save you mechanic labor/parts money especially when their fix doesn't work.
Coil issues are rare. Especially on LS1's. I would have swapped your supposed damaged # 3 coil to another cylinder location, reset any DTC codes in PCM, and seen if the issue continued/followed to a different location. IF so you would have a better confirmation of issue being the coil itself. A common misfire issue is a change from stock spark plugs to multi-tip or fancy iridium spark plugs that in a short time run like total A$$ in an LS1. Seen many a LS1 owner get talked into installing the high $ plugs only to end up throwing them out. I recommend part # NGK TR55 replacement spark plugs.
Which shop gave you advice Admin's Note:
(Protect future members!)
Neighborhood shops are notorious for handing out a parts list coupled with unsatisfied repair experience after bill is paid.
I recently had shop, Dealer Alternative on Bitters/281, VW trained Master Mechanic provide similar results on my wifes '05 VW Jetta. I was provided a $2,400+ open ended estimate. Wife was ready to negotiate a cash deal for $1,800 with them. Based on experience and (1) DTC code for cylinder # 3 misfire their estimate was to replace entire systems (full ignition system/cooling fans/ect.) not even related to my (rpms raise with no car movement along with rough jerking while shifting) issue. They didn't even drive the car! Even told me to sell the car, buy American/Toyota/Lexus which they specialize in. Now that IS advice I'm going say was smart! Lol VW are complicated MF'ers to work on. After researching myself I found that their is no DTC code for my issue and they hadn't even offered replacing what was ACTUALLY wrong with the car which was a factory recall part: transmission valve body. That itself is a $4,000+ swap at VW dealership. As I was outside of the recalls 100k mile requirement I did the work myself by getting Bently Publishings VW dealer mechanic manual ($100+ cost) for FREE thru interlibrary loan and completed the install for -$1,000 with part/fluids/specialized tools.) So my advice... Ask for help, and do you're homework!
