ok guys as many of you know the transmisison in my firebird didnt last long, the failure is unknown at this point, but ive got this 4l60e i picked up that i will be going through to overhaul and upgrade many components to make it withstand hopefully some 10 second passes.this will likely be a 2 month long ordeal since i have to put quite a few hours in at work but i just wanted to kick off 2011 and try to get some enthusiasm back in the club. so heres my build so far. Today with the help of Cory, WHITE94Z(i think...lol) we drained the transmission, removed the pan, removed one accumulator main electrical harness and the main control valve body. ill be going step by step over this thread showing you all what modifications ive maid and why. The transmission after draining. This is under the pan.Main control valve body attatched(filter removed),all electrical connections still intact. Main control valve body removed along with solenoids and electical harness. This is the Main control valve body.this is the brain of the transmission.these valves and solenoids control line pressure clutch activation and fluid direction. This is the portion that the valve body bolts to,these are the fluid circuits of the transmision and there are check balls in specifica locations to direct fluid to certain areas.and in the upper left is one of the fluid accumulators. This is just an hours work. there will be much more and in depth photos later to come. stay tuned!
