I have been thinking long and hard about how to bring new official memebrs into the club without charging fees This is what I have came up with
In order to become a new member the candidate will have to make it to 5 official SAFBA meets in a year These offical meets will be held once a month thse meets do not need to be attended consecutively when the candide enters into the membership process they will be given a punch card after five punches the candidate will be a full blown SAFBA member and then will be able to order there shirt and sticker. Now with that said i want to hear the opinions of our veteran members

An initation process is always good. Will that affect the curent 151 group Admin's Note:
One sure way to either know if we can rely on any candidate that is willing to make benefit shows like Providence, that muscular dystrophy event the following sunday, or the bass pro event at the rim.
On the shirt issue, I think we should be upfront with the costs. Obviously there is some people, that think you may be pocketing the money, or turning a profit. Maybe an estimate on a minimum shirt order divded by the current people interested in purchasing a shirt. Of course with more quantity the cost per shirt may drop.
we should just designate a lead. The circles of regulars are apparent. I we could get a constant members/initate that makes a particular weekly meet. We should entrust with them managing/representing SAFBA's image/interest.
We should also take into consideration, those members that have kids/family. Sure we may be able to meet in a kid friendly place, but we also shouldnt cater with a face painter and a bouncy house.
About the mexico runs. If some members want to partake in such events, we shouldnt barr them from it. They are free to do what best interest them. But lets not have them organize it during official meets.
And lets be open for meets suggestions from anyone, if a newer member suggest hanging out somewhere, where another member feels discouraged. It should at least be taken into consideration. We were all new once, so the same opportunity should present itself to anyone wishing to take up in our club.
And finally, I know we're an f-body club. But our cars are exting so opening up to other LSX platforms is always nice.

Wow had to recover my login password.
Punch card seems kinda hard to keep on top of. But it's a move in the right direction. There are a lot of bs people on FB. hard to keep up with. Il reserve my opinions to closed meetings with elder members. But a change is needed. The floodgate needs to be closed. Too many noobs that come and go selling bs and then ask for shipping. Most folks don't want to be on a board like this one anymore unless there's an app.
Solution. Create a page for SAFB meets then you can only like the page to get info on the upcoming meets. If there's a meet create an RSVP to that meet Then let the current page be tech talk bs and other stuff. But I do like the 5 meet plan just seems difficult to monitor. I say charge 50 bucks. Gets a shirt and 3 decals. Serious new members will pay. Whatever's left over we can donate to toys for tots at the end of the year.

I like the fact that new members will have to put in some time in order to show dedication to the club. I just wouldn't want some rich jerk to throw in his $, then expect to be a full fledged member of the club. I like that the tenured folks are more than just club members, they are friends as well. We have a good circle and a good vibe with the core group. I don't want someone to be able to "buy" their way in. Or pay their dues and get a shirt and disappear. = ( Punch cards might be the easiest way to keep track. We can also keep track mentally, but that puts some of the burden on new folks. They should do some work for it.

Also, maybe something to think about... Even if someone make 5 meets a year, what if they're an asshole that no one likes Admin's Note:
Too funny. The next topic down is blue waffle. Anyways. Dave's right. And would it be any meet or Safb meets where a mod attends. I know this past weekend I had conflicts but rolled thru 151. I was in the acura. But didn't have time to make it to Bourne. Also some mems were at jdawgs. Some meets folks just won't go to. How about around the beginning of the year u guys roll out some guidelines and we have a big ass member meet and greet. Lord knows I can't make everything but it would be something I would plan on attending. But at a location that's not a biffs or crap like that. A neutral place. Even if it's at bass pro and were the only ones there. It's our bus ass meet. Just my two cents.

Remember that meet at your shop Chris Admin's Note:
That seems like it was ages ago.... probably was! Anyway, I like the idea of somebody having to show that they are going to be around for a while before letting them have a shirt or a sticker. I've seen people in the past show up once, get a sticker, and then never show up again. I don't really think paying your way in will be very efficient. I think it will lead to new people criticizing us even more and will cause divisions within ourselves because, eventually, the the thought will cross your(nobody specific) mind about how the money is being handled. I say, keep it simple, make punch card from vista print(cheap or free) and hand them out to new person asking what it takes to join. Maye on the back of the card it can have the requirements or something similar.

Maybe instead of punch cards use an app to check pple in as they show up to the meets. We do this at my gym makes tracking easier. App we use is called Zen Planner but i dont think its free. Maybe dues will help offset or decide if its worth using. I know Ive been MIA, i try to get to some meets. Im not gonna be around much till Feb/Mar next year I am studying for promotion so that is the priority. Not sure when I test but i should know in December. Id like to do another photo shoot with the group too end of March.
We should be selective on whos in, some of the hs kids i cant deal with. Others creep me out at times lol. None of you ;-).......

The punch thing is cool and fair. I personally think that the main thing is we need to keep it classy. I to think there needs to be some standard we need to set to not have us as a group look bad, or immature. I would be willing for us long term member to meet somewhere house, bar, ect... and have talks and or votes on how we should proceed. I think for the most part our page should stay on the car topic (there are always exceptions to the rules). Meaning.... i dont care where you just started working or what you ate for dinner. They have theyre own personal profiles for that. If they are going to try and sell stuff it MUST be local. Im sure i can think of more..... just not at the moment.

So punch card of some sort looks to be a winner. How would this be regulated. What would be considered a meet. That's tha problem with that. I can see a conflict. The group that goes to 151 wouldn't get a punch unless a MOD was there to punch em in. We need to figure that part out.
Also I agree with Stacy. A lot of HS bs newer folks. My fear is being associated with someone who's racing and giving the club a bad name if caught. (This is why I don't currently have a sticker on my car and won't.)
I agree with Brandon. If we're gonna discuss this here where everyone can read it. Maybe we should meet somewheres. Invite the tenured group. I only ask is if we do this we make solid go forward decisions. I'm tired of giving ideas and getting responses of we will look into that. It becomes frustrating and deters me agd others from attending more meets.

There is no bigger creeper than me lol. All kidding aside. A mental note as dook stated could theoretically work. A punch card is initiative, but modern times call for a simpler approach. Maybe a FB check in. Process and we'll all (whoever wants to get involved) just keep a note on initates.
I beg to differ on most member's maturity. Sure, there may be a few of us... (ok.... mostly me) that is sort of a skid mark on the underwear of society. But the underlying reason is to be variable. Notice it makes newer members more relaxed when they deal with shenanigans. Fellow trans am owners know this. We're rebels, and do not adhere to the status quo.
